HIV Clerkship - Erie County Medical Center
The Erie County Medical Center (ECMC) and the Immunodeficiency Clinic
serve as teaching sites for Pharm.D. students at the University at
Buffalo School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences who are completing
the Professional Experiential Program (Clerkship) component of their training.
The Immunodeficiency Clinic provides multidisciplinary services
(including medicine, nursing, pharmacy, social work, nutrition and
psychology) to approximately 800 patients with HIV infection in
Western New York. The Pharmacists run an independent Pharmacotherapy/Adherence
Clinic as well as interfacing with the general HIV clinic operations.
They also coordinate weekly multidisciplinary Virology Conferences to
discuss patient cases with the medical staff. Clinical services are also
extended to the Children's Hospital of Buffalo, ECMC inpatient service
and private medical practices in the Western New York area.
